Here you will find tips & tricks on how to use the TBO. If you have any input, please mail us

TBO demo version

Now you can try TBO for yourself! Download a 2 octave + all the C's demo, (available only for GS3 at this moment, other formats will follow).
The samples has been shortened to max 7 seconds, then faded. On the full version, the samples of course are longer! The demo version is in 16 bit. Also, there are no impulses for pedal down or instrument resonanse included since they still are worked on.
NOTE: TBO is a BIIIG piano, so is the demo. Even "crippled" its well over 1 Gb, so you shouldn't try to download this unless you have a fast connection. It's compressed with WinRar and split up to three parts. Download them all, place them in the same directory, and uncompress the first one only. The other two parts will uncompress automatically.

TBO EXS24 Demo Files
1. Download the three Demo files "Kontakt Demo Part 1-3"
2. Unpack the files to your harddisk
3. Download the EXS24 files below
4. Unpack the .exs files and place them in your EXS24 Instrument folder
5. Download the special EXS 24 release samples below
6. Unpack the files. This will give you a folder containing the special EXS24 release samples.
7. Move the samples withing this folder to the "Samples" folder from step 2. The system will say that the files already exsists and ask if it's ok to replace them. IT IS!!!
8. Now, EXS24 can not handle this many samples in one instrument, so you have three instruments. Load them all three in three different EXS24 instances
9. Create an instrument in the enviroment and name it TBO
10. Connect that instrument in paralell to the three EXS24 instruments
11. Done!

Here's a description over the patches in the TBO Demo Update:
TBO – All 31 velocities evenly distributed over the range. Use this one for experimenting with new patches.
TBO 1 – All 31 velocities included, but the top levels, where keys are hit extremely hard are placed at the very top of the velocity spectra.
TBO 2 – The top, extreme velocity layers are removed leaving “only” 28 layers. Since the top three layers comes from hitting keys really, and I mean REALLY hard, you might not want to reach those ever…
TBO 3 – Economy patch. Uses 16 velocity layers
TBO 4 – Economy patch. Uses 8 velocity layers

Tips & Tricks

How to unpack .rar files on a Mac - On the CD, you will find several versions of the freeware "StuffIt Expander". You can visit their homepage at StuffIt for more info and updates

How to run Black Grand on Gigastudio 96 (written by Alex Kitaen) - Here's what I'm doing. GSt96's 2 ports open a Hubi loopback. I create a Midi-ox translation object that clones all channel 1 data & dups it onto channel 2. Create a midi-ox port mapping between my master controller (if I'm just playing, or from an input Hubi loopback device if I want a sequencer port) to the output loopback device. Put the enabled translation object on the port map from controller to GSt's loopback. Voila, the full instrument on 2 ports and 2 duplicate channels.

REAL PIANO BEHAVIOUR by Xavier Bidault (01/09/2004)
"I wanted to recreate a real string behaviour while sustain pedal is down. Let's consider for the moment only the string behaviour (not the overall piano resonance) : when you play one note on a piano, you play only a (one, a couple, or three) string. And when you use sustain pedal while playing again this note, the previous one "disappears" to let the new one sounding. This is not really a problem when the second note is louder than the first one, but it is when the second is softer! On each actual patch and digital pianos, the first loud note keeps on sounding and expressivity is very poor. So i made a modification to gain this realism while playing.
And this improvement has the good idea to save polyphony... no need to have 256 voices to avoid loosing notes in rich playing (for example : a bass note keeping on ringing although the polyphony limit should have cut it a long time ago).I improved this for each note, and managed not to destroy the sympathetic resonance (non-struck strings resonance) but keeping the reinforcement effect, and still in realtime (for example, you can play a chord then press or depress sustain in realtime and have the same timbre's variation pedal like on a real piano). I paid attention too to resonance when a loud note is followed by a soft note : the string sound is dampered, but the resonance is practically not changed.I spent also time to improve release behaviour, to improve staccato, legato, and double-escape."
