The White Grand pushes the envelope of what today's samplers can handle. As sampling platforms continue to evolve and grow, so will the White Grand. In our sessions for the White Grand, we recorded far more material than we can use in today's samplers. Rest assured, your purchase of today's White Grand is a great value--now, and tomorrow. Here you will find tips & tricks on how to use the White Grand. If you have any input, please mail us

MP3-Demos - Hearing is believing....

Everybody's Happy - from The Discovery Health Channel production "Pregnancy for Dummies" - James Ryan. - NEW "What I thought was extraordinary about the White was not it's punch or it's ability to cut through a rock track. I was knocked out by it's stunning sound in the p to ppp range, and the long wonderful sustain on the quieter notes. The White sounds like my Steinway!" - James Ryan, Composer, Rampage Music New York, Inc.

White Rock - Performed by Steve Peffer (currently playing with LeAnn Rimes, toured with Kellie Coffey, Martina McBride, Sara Evans, and many more) and Jeremy Whaley. No processing on the piano! Here's what Steve have to say about the White Grand: "I loved how the White grand cuts. I tend to be a pretty aggressive player, and I like how the piano reacts when I hit hard - It jumps out and comes to life - just like a real piano."

White Christmas - Ok, chistmas is over, but this piece, played by Jeremy Whaley is sooo sweet!

Seaside - Another piece made by Jeremy Whaley.

Ballade - Wonderful played and written by Ian Lawson, reverb added to the White Grand

Yo Mama Yellow Dog Blues - Two great performance by Sue Keller! Sue says: "This piano was born to boogie!", well Sue, so where you! Visit Ragtime Press to hear more from Sue Keller.

Stella - Great playing from jazz pianist and White Grand user Richard Krull. Solo piano. No processing has been made

White Jazz - A small jazz piece, bass is from the bundled Kontakt sounds. No processing has been made to the piano.

Rach & Roll - Classical piece, now this REALLY brings out the dynamics in the White Grand!!!! No Processing to the piano.

Wild Rose - The White Grand shows it's tender side! No processing to the piano.

White Jazz II - Another solo jazz piece. Great playing & dynamics! No processing made to the piano.

Restitution- Written and performed by Jeremy Whaley

Journey of Desire- Written and performed by Jeremy Whaley

Man With The Bag- Another one by Sue Keller! - NEW

White Grand Gigastudio demo version

It's hard to in text explain what 32 velocity splits gives you in terms of dynamic and tactile playing, so therefor we provide you with a free White Grand demo! The demo has all the C's plus two complete octaves so you can try it out for yourself. So get ready to experience something that you never heard before in any sampled piano!!!

Please note that even if this is a demo, the files are biiiiig! You'll need Gigastudi 160 since the White Grand needs all the 4 ports (in Gst 160 you can stack 4 instruments on the same MIDI channel). You can run it on Gst96, please read further down on this page. The files are compressed using WinRar to save some space and make downloading a bit more easy. The files are also split into 50Mb chunks, (the last is a bit smaller). Dowload all 11, and unrar them. Then please read the instructions, and remember to use the gsp-file, not the gig-files!!! Enjoy!

How to run White Grand on Gigastudio 96 (written by Alex Kitaen)

Here's what I'm doing. GSt96's 2 ports open a Hubi loopback. I create a Midi-ox translation object that clones all channel 1 data & dups it onto channel 2. Create a midi-ox port mapping between my master controller (if I'm just playing, or from an input Hubi loopback device if I want a sequencer port) to the output loopback device. Put the enabled translation object on the port map from controller to GSt's loopback. Voila, the full instrument on 2 ports and 2 duplicate channels.

Economy Versions of the White Grand

White Grand is a biiiig instrument! It should be.... that's what makes it sound so good. But, sometimes you'll need a smaller instrument. It could be that you run low on memory and therefore need a smaller version of the White Grand. NOTE: By using these smaller versions, you will not get the full sound of the original White Grand!

White Grand Economy 1.nki - For Kontakt, less velocity splits

White Grand Economy 2.nki - For Kontakt, as Economy 2 but smaller, less samples/octave

White Grand Economy 1.fxp - For HALion, less velocity splits

White Grand Economy 2.fxp - For HALion, as Economy 2 but smaller, less samples/octave

Special Dampler Patch for HALion - By Pink Canary

White Grand damper mode.rar

You need two pedals. One set to sustain, the other set to Sostenuto (66). The sostenuto was a completely arbitrary choice, it just happens to be a switch and it kinda hooks in to the whole concept.
The idea is that for 'normal' playing you just use the sustain pedal.
If you are playing a section with reiterated notes, then pressing (and holding) the sostenuto pedal just before the sustain pedal will cause the damper samples to flip to another version with a modified release section. This provides a smoother rollover between the notes and masks the retriggering. The trick is to lift your foot off the sostenuto pedal before an exposed section reveals the unnatural release. By lifting your foot off from that pedal the chord or note before, you
allow the proper damper pedals to come through again. It takes maybe 5 minutes to get comfortable with the technique, and it makes quite a difference to the sound.
See what you think...

Special Note on EXS24 Mk II Crossgrades. In samplers like Kontakt, HALion and Gigastudio, you can set the attack on releasesamples. This can't be done with EXS24. To be able to make a good version in EXS24 you therefore have to edit the actual releasesamples by applying a 200 mS fadein to each releasesample. If you can't do this with some kind of batch processor, it's a very painstaking job. You can always use the "No Rel" patches, since they don't use the releasesamples at all.
