The Seven Seas Grand, 7CG, was recorded at OAL studios in Stockholm Sweden using a Yamaha C7 Grand Piano. We used a matched pair of  Neumann U89 for picking up the sound of this great instrument. Miked fairly closed, the 7CG gives you the clarity, attack and brightness needed for more contemporary use, at the same tima as the massive number of velocities and vintage mics provides you with a sound and dynamic range that really makes this instrument a swiss army knife of sampled pianos

The magnificent Steinway D, recorded in a concerthall for the true concert grand experience. Three different microphone perspectives, Close, Ambient and Medium Ambiance that you can mix together. Incredible 48 samples/note cut's this sampled instrument in a class of its own. The Close Perspective gives you a in-your-face pop or jazz sound, or for bold and aggressive features. Definitely reach for this version first on a live performance. The Medium works well for both classical and acoustic jazz recordings, where the perception of some room in the tone is desirable. The Ambient gives you the full piano hall sound, This is normally the preferred configuration for recording a live classical piano performance, such as a recital.

The demos are: 1 - Close Perspective, 2 - Medium, 3 - Ambient, 4 - Close & Ambient mix

Blue Grand 7 1 Kontakt (Full Version), HALion, EXS24, SFZ No No No Yes 2 Gb $49

The Blue Grand is the perfect piano when you want something that’s a bit more mellow, old school and ambient sound.
The great instrument used for the White Grand and White Sister, a large Malmsjo Grand, a 100 year old beauty, was here used to create their more soft spoken sister.

The instrument was miked up pretty closed, to remain contact with the instrument, but room mikes was used to give it a more ambient character.
It was also tuned to give a bit more movement in the tone, giving it an even more old school sound.

Singularis 16 1 Kontakt (Full Version), EXS24, HALion, SFZ No No No No 2.7 Gb $79

In the 50’s, the recording studios weren’t what they are today. A few microphones and few tracks on the tape machines made sessions a bit different then today’s workflow. Most of the music was recorded live with very few, if any, overdubs. This led to a way of recording that made a special sound, you can hear it on most recordings from the late 50’s through the first years of the 60’s.

The Singularis is an instrument that recreates that sound. Through recording and processing, vintage analog equipment has been used to provide you with the sound of that magic era.

....and, oh, it's in mono!
